 Africa's Mathematics Community faces a problem of educational and research infrastructure not strengthened enough to produce an adequate number of mathematicians with advanced degrees.
This has resulted in African born mathematicians acquiring their masters and doctorate degrees from outside the country. These foreign trained African Mathematicians after acquiring their qualifications usually do not come back to their native countries.
It is against this background that IMS was setup to cater for the needs of young and enterprising African Scientists to help them develop their full potentials. |
